Bears safety battle: Adrian Wilson will either start or be cut

According to Bears insider Hub Arkush, perennial Pro Bowl safety Adrian Wilson will “either start or be gone” when the Bears take on the Buffalo Bills at Soldier Field to open the season on September 7.

Wilson was a late addition during free agency, having signed with the Bears on June 23.  GM Phil Emery has said that the burst is still there for 34-year-old Wilson, who went to five Pro Bowls between 2006-2011 with the Arizona Cardinals.  At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, Wilson would bring a physical presence to the secondary that was severely lacking a season ago.

If Wilson can still be an impact player in the NFL, he would represent an upgrade for the Bears at safety that could only be measured in light years.
